On November 18^th 2022, for unknown reasons, our Instagram account was blocked. We’ve contacted Instagram and Facebook support team many times, with no response from them so far.

As a brand that promotes outstanding customer service and a very close relationship with our customers, this situation is simply unacceptable to us. Moreover, taking into consideration that Facebook is supposed to be a “social” network, “connecting” people.

Therefore, we’ve decided not to reopen our Instagram account, at least until we see that Facebook is starting to treat its users and customers with the respect they deserve. We believe that we are not digital products that can be edited, turned off or unilaterally censored by ghost “moderators” without clear rules and, more explicitly, without giving any explanation.

We know that this decision is not the best one in terms of marketing, but big sustainable brands like Lush are demanding that social media giants act too, so we also know that we’re not alone in taking this stance. We hope that Instagram will introduce strong best practice guidelines and that international regulation will be passed into law to protect users from digital mistreatment, manipulation and exploitation. 

In any case, we can still connect via Twitter, Pinterest and TikTok, as at least they have decent customer services and better content guidelines. Thank you so much for your amazing support and remember that gender equality starts with your shoes. Stay strong and always expect respect! 🌈💪
