Despite test technological advances and mass-production in the footwear industry, we are committed to keeping it old-school when it comes to shoemaking. From the quality of the materials we use to the level of craftsmanship, we are harking back to traditional shoemaking. Our leathers are expertly hand-cut by artisans to ensure that each piece is maximised to its full potential.
Five days and more than 100 operations are poured into each pair of Julia Bo shoes, lovingly crafted at our three European workshops. Every hand-sewn, custom-made shoe is a precious creation by our shoemakers, organised as small shoe cooperatives of 20-30 predominantly female artisans. This socially-responsible business model allows us to develop a long-term relationship with our producers and their communities, whilst offering you custom-made shoes and accessories, handcrafted with high-quality materials, at a fair price.
Established over 40 years ago, this small family-owned shoe factory prides itself on preserving traditional shoemaking techniques. Nestled in a quaint town, the workshop exudes a time-honored ambiance, with skilled artisans meticulously crafting each pair of shoes by hand.
This cooperative, owned by its hero employees—predominantly women artisans—has been dedicated to traditional shoemaking for over 25 years. Based on old-school techniques, each pair of shoes is handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring both quality and comfort. Their dedication and perseverance in maintaining these traditional methods, even during difficult times, not only strengthen their community but also their entire country.
